I was having a rough day this week and decided to try a new show called Younger. At first when it came up in my ‘must watch’ feed I was going to pass it over, but after getting a glimpse of the synopsis and learning that it was based on a Pamela Redmon Satran novel of the same name, decided to give it a go. Initially I wasn’t onboard, but after a couple episodes I have to say that I was successfully hooked.

Miriam Shor takes a stereotypical role and makes it all her own – definitely a fave of mine.

I don’t like to give tons of spoilers so here’s the quick summary: Sutton Foster plays “Liza Miller” a 40-year-old mother of a teen who after being recently divorced, decides to head back out into the workforce. She finds it way more difficult than she expected, as most think she’s too old and has had too many years away from the publishing world (her field), to be relevant or current. When she meets “Josh” (Nico Tortorella) and he assumes she’s 20-something, Liza decides – with prodding from best friend “Maggie” (Debbie Mazar) – to try to pass for that age and finds success as soon as she does so.

The cast, including those mentioned above, along with Hilary Duff “Kelsey Peters” and Miriam Shor “Diana Trout”, work very well together and it’s interesting to see how the characters play off of each other.

This feel-good series is laid-back and a great watch if you have lots on your plate and want some fantasy1easy watching to take the edge off. At the same time, it utilises humour in a way that often makes me smile, thinking about things the characters say that are similar to what some of my closest friends would say to each other. It’s for the most part real, with touches of ‘yea sure’ in between, but I’d say if you’re looking for a new 20-minute pit-stop show, Younger could definitely be for you.

Besides realising for seemingly the first time that Nico Tortorella is seriously hot haha, I’ve been . . .

Life’s Quickdates (quick updates)

1) Working hard. My ISP issues have been more or less resolved so I’ve been trying to catch back up with all the backlog that piled up over the last weeks. I’ve been more or less successful so far, but I’m still behind on a few things and will most likely use at least some of the weekend to get it all together.fantasy2

2) Creating new promotional material for my books and upcoming projects. May 2015 is a hectic one for me, but the fruits of June will make it all worth it.home1

3) Settling into my new home more or less. How do I know? Instead of cleaning almost daily, it’s down to about every three days or so ha.
