Hello my lovelies! How’s the week been treating you? I hope it’s been great and if not, kick its butt into submission and finish strong ^_^.
Today I want to share an excerpt from my Action & Adventure/Fantasy trilogy: Ayestra Calling (Return of the Guardian Trilogy, Bk 2). ‘Secrets (Return of the Guardian Trilogy, Book 1)’ is on virtual shelves and there are surprises coming up for that little number as well so keep checking this page for updates.
This unedited excerpt is taken from Chapter 3. Emma is about to swim for her supper and will encounter much more than she expected. Enjoy :):
~ I’d never been afraid of water this was truer in my fae-state as I could stay underwater for some time on little air. Yet as tiny hands gripped at my ankles, determined by the numerous little fingers that tickled uncomfortably when they moved, I panicked. My mouth opened involuntarily as I shouted out and water rushed in happily, unaware of the horror it was inducing. I gulped, gasping for air, trying to grab at tendrils of bubbles, as if they could somehow take me back to the surface.
The arms continued to hold fast, ignoring my struggle and soon I was able to glimpse what was attacking me. Coming up beside my face as my chest started to feel as though it would burst, was an ugly little creature, no bigger than my forearm. It grinned at me, teeth uneven and brown. It was unperturbed by water and breathed it in with ease. Its grey eyes were big and slanted and it had no hair to speak of, or to cover its yellowish skin.
As it approached me, I forced myself back, but was thrown off by another sudden yank from below. The thing came closer to my face now and though it was naked, I didn’t know its gender, as nothing in its physical appearance made it clear. When it was close enough to reach out and touch my cheek, its head snapped fearfully. I felt my shoulders grabbed and just as suddenly, the hands fell away from my feet. It was Tai. ~
Sequels are nice as they give writers the chance to continue their characters’ stories and, readers the opportunity to see if their favourites have changed, grown from past experience or simply — what happens next? What have been some of your favourite and least favourite book sequels? Let me know in the comments section below :)!
Have a good one lovely readers and I’ll see you Friday!
Please note: After this long break the beginning of Chapter 16: Glamorous Lies, will be posted on ‘Jackie Jones on Wattpad.’. Look out for the Awakening Character Guide soon and catch up with the story using the link above, as with only FIVE chapters left, you’ll want to catch up ^_^.
Remember you can also contact me for information about facilitating reviews, interviews, etc on this blog site ^_^.
